Looking for a cost-effective cannabis prescription? From the cost of your consultation through to the cost of your medicine, we give you a complete step-by-step guide.

How Much Should You Pay?

See our Guide to Prescription Cannabis-based Medicines In the UK to make sure you understand the basics of medicinal cannabis including the basics on THC, CBD and medical cannabis flowers and oils.

  • The cost of your medicine.
  • The cost to see your doctor.
  • Any costs your doctor may charge to issue a prescription

We’re going to dive into each of these areas so that you’re totally clear on the average UK cannabis prescription cost.

Your UK Cannabis Prescription Cost: Cost of Your Medicine

  • The amount of flower or oil you’re prescribed every month.
  • The cost of your flower or oil.

Let’s look at each individually to understand a little bit more.

Patients with a UK cannabis prescription for flower will typically be prescribed anywhere from 10g to 60g per month, with 30g being the average.

The cost per gram ranges from ~£6 per gram to ~£9 per gram, with the main driver of price being patient preference, rather than the amount of THC or CBD. This means that patients who want to spend less on their medical cannabis flower are able to, if they prefer.

So, if you’re prescribed medical cannabis flower this will cost you somewhere between £60 – £540 depending on amount prescribed and the price per gram.

Patients with a UK cannabis prescription for oil will typically be prescribed anywhere from 10ml to 50ml per month, with 30ml being the average.

The cost per bottle ranges from £80 to £200, with the main driver of price being the total amount of THC or CBD.

Yes, you guessed it. Lots of patients with a UK cannabis prescription get prescribed both flower and oil.

The cost of flower and oil probably doesn’t need explaining in too much detail! It’s simply the cost of whatever medical cannabis flower plus the cost of any medical cannabis oil you’ve been prescribed.

On average a prescription may cost between approximately £80 – £300 per month depending on the medical cannabis products prescribed.
